How to Create Your Own Word of Mouth Campaign in 5 Easy Steps

Word of mouth is viral on its own. However, businesses need to think about the marketing aspect of everything they do and this includes "word of mouth" advertising.

Word of mouth is among the very few techniques to infiltrate the no-marketing zones people have built around their lives. Many marketers, including myself, believe that informal, unmediated communication through blogs, social networking sites, or chats in the girls' bathroom is hands down more effective than even the most polished ads.

Word of mouth
is a great starting point for an online marketing campaign. Below are 5 easy steps to get you to start your own "word of mouth" campaign:

1. Find people who will talk about your business. Look for bloggers, customers, volunteers, and influencers.

2. Give them a topic to discuss. This could be a new product, great service,, or a new feature.

3. Use the tools that are available to you. Handouts, blogs, online communities, samples.

4. Take part in the conversation. Reply to blog postings, online discussions, and use Twitter for updates.

5. Track your comments. Use dashboards and other advanced measurement tools. Offer feedback on on message boards.

Use this info to start your own word of mouth marketing campaign and get the word out.

Rebel Public Relations: How to Get More People to Follow You Without Using Twitter

No, this isn't Rebel Public Relations creating another Twitter application that will promise you thousands of followers in one day. This is about creating organic traffic by attracting people to you because you have something to offer. Novel, huh?

If you are looking for more people to find you, follow you, and most importantly, buy from you then there are a few rules of the internet that you may want to follow.

Most people will buy from those they trust, right? But all too often I run into websites, blogs, or lenses that are attempting to sell to right off the bat. Nothing turns away your perfect prospect faster than a snake oil salesperson.

So the fastest way to get people to follow and trust you...give something to them first! Give them something of value. Share with your perfect prospect information that will make their lives easier.

Recently I created a video for my Marketing Minute program that answers the question of how to get more people to follow you.

It's always going to be about trust. So give your perfect prospect value and you will earn their trust.

3 Key Ingredients You MUST Possess for Success in Business

A long time ago I learned that there are 3 key attributes you must possess in order to be successful in business, especially if you are a sole proprieter. These keys will unlock the doors to success and give you everything you want in your life...guaranteed! But you MUST have all 3 of these attributes! 2 out of 3 won't cut it. If you think you don't have all 3 then I would suggest working for someone else, in someone else's business, making someone else rich. Now, doesn't that sound good?! Not to me...

Ok, below are the 3 key attributes. Do you have them? If not, can you develop them?

1. Burning Desire What drives you everyday? What kicks your feet out of bed excited to start the day? What are your dreams? Are they big enough? Your burning desire is your "why". Why do you want to do a business like this? What can you achieve with this business? Financial freedom? Time freedom? Create a big enough WHY and have that burning desire to achieve it!

2. Coachable You have to be coachable in this business. Be open to idea's from other successful business people. Or hire a business coach to kick you in the butt! The more open you are to learning the faster you will achieve your goals!

3. Strong Work Ethic You have to work harder than anyone when you are in business for yourself. You have to be willing to do the hard work. Nothing is handed to you. You will work but the rewards are phenomenal and life changing in so many ways.

Do you possess these 3 key attributes? If so, you will be on your way to achieving great success in your business. I know of many people in business who have become wealthy beyond their dreams by applying, or developing, the above 3 attributes. Are you next?

8 Reasons Your Business Should be Using Email Marketing

Email marketing is most likely not going away anytime soon. It’s one of the most effective communication and promotion vehicles on the internet today.

Email marketing is relatively inexpensive compared to other forms of marketing and allows you to improve your relationships with your prospects (gain trust) and your current clients. Email marketing is not only a great way to send out newsletters but it’s a great way to send specific targeted messages over time that will help you convert ie; get your customers to buy again!

Here are 8 reasons as to why it’s vitally important to your business to take advantage of email marketing:

1. Email is personal-With auto-responder technology you will be able to automatically customize the email with the recipient’s name. Personalizing is important to gaining trust with your prospects
2. Timed responses-You can set your messages to automatically send at pre-determined intervals. Let the system work for you. This is a huge time saver on the back-end.
3. Open rates-Unlike traditional advertising, where you don’t know who is looking at your message, with email marketing you will have access to open rates, click through rates, delivery, and conversion.
4. Demographics-How valuable is it for your business to know where your message is being “heard”. This piece of information will allows you to collect vital information about your prospects.
5. Fast delivery-Email is sent instantaneously. You can virtually get feedback regarding your message in minutes compared to days or weeks with traditional advertising.
6. Trust factor-As mentioned in #1 above, trust is huge on the internet. People will do business with you if they trust you.
7. Builds brand awareness-Email marketing is highly effective, customized, and helps you build your brand with your message.
8. It's virtually FREE! It doesn’t cost a whole lot to send email to thousands of prospects and the revenue generated is pure profit!

Email is a major form of communication and huge part of many people's daily routine. Email marketing is a great way to expand your business and it doesn’t have to be a costly nor time consuming to make it happen.

In today’s challenging economy email marketing may be the best return on investment as businesses are tightening budgets and looking to restrict spending on marketing yet still maintain a presence in the market.

Is Your Business Using Social Media?

Social media is here to stay. Now we just have to grow and develop with it. Social media is the new marketing medium, and every agency, no matter how clueless they are in actually using or implementing social media in campaigns, is telling their clients that this is what they have to be doing. I've been one of the people banging the drum for businesses to catch up in implementing social media into their current marketing efforts and for their clients and customers. Why? Social media is so much more than just social networks. It’s about visibility and enhancing brand through blogs, video sharing, photo sharing, micro-blogging, forums and much, much more.

The public at large is not utilizing social media and we have only begun to scratch the surface in power, influence, and value that social media offers in personal and business relationships. Social Media is blogging and podcasting. Its joining social networks and social sharing sites. Social media is a form of communication that is rapidly changing the way business relates to its customers. Social media tools facilitate and magnify these communications.

Social Media is definitely not as omnipresent as email yet. It’s been reported that 75% of 18-24 year olds spend significant time on social networks. Knowing that how can you influence that important group of purchasing power? Social Media is redefining how we relate to each other as humans and how we relate to the organizations that serve us. While it is commonly represented by blogs, video, audio, wikis, other user generated content and social networks, it is not about those specific things as much as it is about what happens around and because of those things. If you own a business, regardless of size, then you MUST have a social media campaign. This will help form and solidify sound relationships that are valid, reliable, and true.

Is Your Web Designer Building You a Dynamic Site?

I have, recently, run into several business people who hired a web designer to build them a dynamic website for their business. What was interesting is that their websites, although they looked good, did not provide them with any leads and minimal page views. I found them to be frustrated as they spent a considerable amount of money to help them garner leads, enhance their brand, and visibility on the internet.

I have posted a short video that will share with you 3 questions that you MUST ask prior to hiring a web designer. This is a must watch video as it will literally save you thousands of dollars and lot's of headaches!

Interview with Amparo Perez Cook

Today, I want you to meet Amparo Perez Cook. Who you might ask? Most people have never heard of her yet she achieved something that most will never do.

Amparo followed her dream. Watch the interview with RebelWoman host Jann Taber and listen to her story. It is one of many yet one of so few. Her dream, her passion, allowed her to purchase a radio station(one of the first woman to ever do so!) for $15M, without any money, and later sell it for $23M.

Her story is one of passion, determination, and the desire to think big and act big. Her laser focused drive would not allow failure although there were many obstacles against her.

Take 15 minutes and watch the interview. It just might help propel you past any obstacles!

Twitter and Social Media

If you are not taking advantage of social media or are not currently on Twitter you're missing out big time!

Get on Twitter asap. Start looking for people who have the same interests as you or how about getting some news flash's from CNN or your local news outlet? With companies like Dunkin' Donuts, Southwest Airlines and Expedia using Twitter it only makes sense for you to be on there too! What are you waiting for?

Twitter is not complicated and it's a great tool to start meeting like minded business people. You get 140 characters to work with in your mini-blog. Get creative and learn how 2 shortn txt. Every character counts.

Social media is all about transparency. Be real. Don't sell. Make friends. Don't make it complicated. Have fun.
